REGION 59 - West Garden Grove

Division U12 and up Policy

Snack Shack Requirement:

  • Teams need to provide 2 volunteers for one 3-hour snack shack shift.

Referee Requirement: 

  • Teams need to provide referees to cover game. They will earn 1 point for AR and 2 points for center.
    • The center referee position must be selected outside their division.
      (Example: Girls U10 referee should referee Boys U10 game).
    • The AR referee position should be selected outside their division. However, referees can sign up to AR their own games or games within their division the day before or day of their game if the AR spot has not been taken.
  • Each team must earn 2 points for every home game played at region 59.
    (Example: If a team plays 5 home games, they must earn 10 points.)

Note: Once a team has completed the volunteer requirements for referee points and snack shack, they are eligible to Play in the region playoff that decide which teams go to Area playoff. If a team does not complete their volunteer requirements, they are not eligible to play in the region playoffs that decide who goes to area playoffs. If there isn’t a team eligible in that division, then no team will be sent to area playoffs. Teams that go to area playoff are required to help with referee coverage of games in the other division.

Division U10 Policy

Snack Shack Requirement

  • Teams need to provide 2 volunteers for one 3-hour snack shack shift.
    • Once the volunteers have completed their required snack shack shift 10 points will be added to teams’ total points in the standings.

Referee Requirement

  • Teams need to provide referees to cover game. They will earn 1 point for AR and 2 points for center.
    • The center referee position must be selected outside their division. (Example: Girls U10 referee should referee Boys U10 game).
    • The AR referee position should be selected outside their division. However, referees can sign up to AR their own games or games within their division the day before or day of their game if the AR spot has not been taken.
  • Each team must earn 20 referee points throughout the season that will be added to the total point standings.
    • A maximum of 10 points can be earned toward the standings the first half of the season by getting 10 referee points. Any points over to 10 points will carry over to the second half but will not count in the 10 points for the second half standings. These 10 points will be added into the standing halfway through the season.
    • 10 points can be earned toward the standings the second half of the season by getting 10 referee points. These 10 points will be added to the points standings at the end on the seasoned.
    • Teams must get 20 total referee points by the end on the season in order to be eligible for area playoffs A maximum of 20 points will be add
      to the standings.
    • Example: If a team earns 6 points the first half and 14 points the second half. 16 points will be added to their regional standings and the team will still be eligible for Area playoffs because they met the 20-point total requirement.

Note: Once a team has completed the volunteer requirements of 20 referee point and 10 snack shack points, they are eligible to go Region 59 U10 playoffs at the end on the season. Only teams that have completed their volunteer requirement will play in the U10 Playoffs. The top team or teams that come out of the region playoffs will go to area playoffs. Teams that go to area playoff are required to help with referee coverage of games in the other U10 division.

Division U8 Policy

Snack Shack Requirement

  • Teams need to provide 2 volunteers for one 3-hour snack shack shift.

Referee Requirement

  • Teams need to provide a center referee for the game assigned to their team when they have a home game. The game assigned will be either before their game or after.
  • Each team will have to referee 4-5 games.
Note: Once a team has completed the volunteer requirements, the team is eligible to play in the Semi-Finals and Finals of the Region 59 U8 Ice Cream Cup.

Note to Coaches:
Each week teams need to provide Game cards to the referee to keep track of scores and substitution. (Should be printed from sports connect) During the game, coaches must stay on their side lines, off the field and between the 2 build out lines.

Coaches should be reviewing the U8 guidelines of the game each season.
